The CEMEX Inc. Employees Political Action Committee (“CEMEX PAC”) gave $88,000 during the 2016 US election to nineteen candidates who have supported building a border wall, echoing Donald Trump.
ChedrauiLeaks.org gathered documentation which can be viewed below showing each contribution and what the candidates said in support of Trump’s border wall.
CEMEX SAB de CV, one of the world’s largest cement manufacturers, is based in Monterrey, Mexico. CEMEX Inc. is part of its United States arm. CEMEX PAC is officially connected with CEMEX Inc. according to its most recent Federal Election Commission registration statement. CEMEX PAC’s Treasurer is the Executive Vice President, Commercial and Public Affairs of CEMEX USA, Frank Craddock.
CEMEX PAC gave 80% of its federal candidate contributions to Republicans during the 2016 US election according to analysis by the Center for Responsive Politics. The Republican Party officially supported building a border wall across the entire border with Mexico as part of its 2016 statement of policies.
ChedrauiLeaks.org has noticed that the media in Mexico contains very little information about the business dealings and personal assets in the United States of what could be termed Mexican elites, wealthy business people and politicians. In the course of our research we found CEMEX PAC’s activities. ChedrauiLeaks is not stating that members of the Chedraui family or its businesses had any involvement with CEMEX or CEMEX PAC.
