June 15, 2016:  Mickey Kasparian, President of United Food and Commercial Workers Local Union 135 today delivered a letter to San Diego County Assessor/Recorder/County Clerk Ernest J. Dronenburg Jr. urging him to investigate an apparently fraudulent real estate transaction involving the family of a prominent Mexican politician.

The text of the letter follows:

I am writing to urge you to initiate an investigation into what we believe is a fraudulent property transaction involving the family of the late Jose Chedraui Alam.

Jose Chedraui Alam and his wife, Jeannette B. de Chedraui, were owners of a property known as 1750 Avenida del Mundo, Coronado, CA 92118.

On February 8, 2013, Jose Chedraui Alam died of reported respiratory failure in a hospital in Puebla, Mexico.

According to a Grant Deed filed in your office on July 16, 2014, the deceased and his wife appeared before a San Diego notary on July 11, 2014, and signed the deed, gifting the property to “Jose Chedraui”.

Obviously, since Jose Chedraui Alam was not alive on July 11, 2014, the Grant Deed filed in your office on July 16, 2014 is fraudulent.

The recipient of the gifted deed was “Jose Chedraui.”  Jose Chedraui Alam and Jeanette B. de Chedraui have a son, Jose Chedraui Budib, who has a home at Glub de Golf, in Pueblo, Mexico.  Further, the mailing address listed on the deed for mailing tax statements to Jose Chedraui is Fuente de Diana #33, Colonia Club de Golf Las Fuentes, Puebla, Puebla, Mexico C.P. 72110.  Accordingly, it is likely that the deed recipient is Jose Chedraui Budib.

This information was discovered by the union during the course of routine research our union conducted in connection with an ongoing labor dispute with El Super, the supermarket chain in the United States owned by Grupo Comercial Chedraui SAB de CV.  Relatives of Jose Chedraui Alam own a majority of the shares of Grupo Chedraui and dominate the management structure.

We ask that you investigate this apparent fraud on your office, along with any tax, estate or other considerations that may be involved in the transaction.
