Alejandro Orvañanos, “a married man as his sole and separate property” bought 1760 Avenida Del Mundo, Unit 1501 in Coronado, California for $575,000 sometime between January 30, 2012 and April 4, 2012.  Orvañanos was identified on the deed as making the purchase as “a married man as his sole and separate property.”  He borrowed $287,500 from Compass Bank against the condo on April 2, 2012.  On the same day, his wife Cristina Obregon de Orvañanos signed a quitclaim deed clarifying that Alejandro owned the condo as “his sole and separate property.”  The quitclaim deed and deed of trust for the loan were filed sequentially in San Diego County on April 4, 2012.

Alejandro Orvañanos immediately transferred ownership of the condo from himself as his sole and separate property to himself and his wife, as “husband and wife as Joint Tenants” on a quitclaim deed he signed also on April 2, 2012.  This deed was not filed in San Diego until April 5, 2012.

Orvañanos fully paid off the loan by August 9, 2013. ChedrauiLeaks has been unable to find any other loans to Orvañanos for the condo filed in San Diego County.

The condo was assessed at $622,296 for 2017 tax purposes.

Alejandro Orvañanos Alatorre has been a longtime officer of Grupo Pegaso, a conglomerate consolidating many of the various companies of its Chairman, Alejandro Burillo Azcarraga.  We previously reported on a $20 million condo in Vail, Colorado controlled by Burillo Azcarraga.

Alejandro Orvañanos Alatorre and Alejandro Burillo Azcarraga were appointed to the board of directors of Grupo Financiero Banorte at the same time (April 2013).  Orvañanos Alatorre was appointed as an alternate member of the board of directors of Grupo Financiero Banorte.  He was re-appointed in April 2014 but not thereafter.  Alejandro Burillo Azcarraga was appointed as a regular member of the board and has continued to hold his position.  José Antonio Chedraui Eguía has been a member of the board of Banorte since April 2015.

The “Alejandro Orvananos” named on the land records for the condo unit is the same Alejandro Orvañanos Alatorre.

ChedrauiLeaks.org has noticed that the media in Mexico contains very little information about the business dealings and personal assets in the United States of what could be termed Mexican elites, wealthy business people and politicians. ChedrauiLeaks is not stating that members of the Chedraui family or its businesses had any involvement with this condo unit.
