The documents we have examined from Eagle County, Colorado show Polaris Vail, LLC was owned by a Mexican company, whose president was Juan Cortina Gallardo, as of 2013 (see below).

Juan Cortina Gallardo sits on the Board of Directors for beverage and sugar conglomerate Organización Cultiba, S.A.B. de C.V.. As of the end of 2015, he was also the head of Cultiba’s sugar division, the head of the Mexican Chamber of the Sugar and Alcohol Industries, and a member of the Board of the public body that determines the reference price for sugarcane, the National Committee for Sustainable Sugarcane Development. His uncle is Cultiba Chairman Juan Gallardo Thurlow, whose wife we examined in connection with a separate Vail condominium.

Polaris Vail, LLC was organized as a limited liability company in Colorado. The company’s registered agent was listed as Garfield & Hecht, P.C., who had an address in Avon, Colorado.

October 31, 2013

Juan Cortina Gallardo signed a document that was later filed in Eagle County, Colorado as the President of Promotora Polaris S.A. de C.V. which was the sole member and manager of Polaris Vail, LLC. A “member” of a Colorado limited liability company is defined as “a person with an ownership interest” in the company (C.R.S. 7-80-102).

Another document signed the same day by Juan Cortina Gallardo showed Promotora Polaris S.A. DE C.V. was a Mexican corporation with a mailing address at Monte Caucaso #915 Piso 4, Mexico D.F. 11000.

This is the same location as the address Organización Cultiba provided for its principal office in a 2013 definitive prospectus (Monte Cáucaso 915, cuarto piso, Colonia Lomas de Chapultepec, C.P. 11000, México, Distrito Federal).

Polaris Vail, LLC borrowed $3,162,500 from JPMorgan Chase Bank, N.A. secured by 124 Willow Bridge Rd Unit 6-C in Vail Colorado. Juan Cortina signed the Deed of Trust as an authorized signatory for Polaris Vail, LLC.

October 13, 2015

JPMorgan Chase Bank fully released the loan. We have not found any other loans to Polaris Vail LLC filed at Eagle County for the property.
