Luis Berrondo Ávalos is a member of the Mexican Council of Business. As reported by Proceso, Luis Berrondo Ávalos was named in the “Paradise Papers” document trove. Separate from the Paradise Papers, ChedrauiLeaks has found Luis Berrondo Ávalos’s name and signature on a deed of trust as president of a Colorado company that owns a Vail condominium valued at $5,399,690 for tax purposes as of Nov. 14, 2017.
R A Belle 630 Vail Inc., a Colorado corporation, bought Unit 630 at 675 Lionshead Place in Vail, Colorado for $5,030,000 on May 21, 2008. Luis Berrondo Ávalos had already signed a deed of trust as president of R A Belle 630 Vail Inc. for the company to borrow $3,000,000 secured by the condo unit effective the same day as the purchase.
Luis Berrondo Ávalos (whose full name is José Luis Berrondo Ávalos) is Chairman and CEO of Mabe SA de CV, a major appliance manufacturer co-founded by the Berrondo family where he has been a senior officer since 1984.
José Luis Berrondo Ávalos has been a member of the Mexican Council of Business since 1996 and for twenty years he has been a director of consumer lender Crédito Real, where his first cousin Francisco Berrondo Lagos is Chairman. The Berrondo family is a 24% shareholder of Crédito Real (as of December 2016). José Luis Berrondo Ávalos and Francisco Berrondo Lagos were the principal shareholders of the Berrondo family group in Crédito Real.
ChedrauiLeaks.org has noticed that the media in Mexico contains very little information about the business dealings and personal assets in the United States of what could be termed Mexican elites, wealthy business people and politicians. ChedrauiLeaks is not stating that members of the Chedraui family or its businesses had any involvement with R A Belle 630 Vail Inc. or this condo unit.
